Prison Ministry

This fledgling ministry finally ventured from the nest of CUMC on April 18, 2006, with weekly visits to women confined in the Jennifer Road Detention Facility.

Senior Chaplain for the Anne Arundel Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, Chase Wood diligently worked
with prison staff and volunteers to provide a safe arena for female inmates to share their fears and frustrations, be prayed for, and discover that God loves them and wants to be in relationship with them.

There are many directions for God to lead us in this ministry both inside and outside the prison walls.  After-care is desperately needed.  We cannot hope to turn the tide of recidivism if we do not mentor and come along side those seeking to change their lives.

The chaplains in the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry receive no local, state, or federal funding.  Instead, they rely on the support of individuals, religious groups and area businesses.
