History of VIM Projects In The Murewa/UMP District of
The Zimbabwe West Annual Conference

Community UMC is a 35 year old, 800+ member church in the suburbs of Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. During the past 12 years, a total of 35-40 members of CUMC (from 16 -80 years old) have participated as travelling team members on one or more of the following major projects:

Travelling team members have paid 100% of their personal travel and living expenses.
|
|
Less than 5% of the project costs have been paid out of the Mission/Outreach component of CUMC's annual operating budget. The remaining 95%+ of all project costs has been funded through special fundraisers and "extra mile giving" by members, family and friends of CUMC.
|
|
In addition, CUMC has established 3 new Orphan Trusts (Nuweyembwa, Muchinjike and Emily/Cleo Orhpan Trusts). They also support the Surviving Child Orphan Trust in Murewa. Financial Support continues for all four of these Orphan Trusts.

|
CUMC has also provided funds for:
� Bringing a Zimbabwean Pastor's son to U.S. and funding his Bachelor's Degree (over $100K)
� New School Building and school supplies for Shamu School
� Furniture and School Supplies for Hanwa Mission School
� Installation of Solar Power Project at Dindi Medical Clinic
� New District Vehicle
� District Superintendent's Discretionary Fund
� District Office Communications Project
� Hanwa UMC Pastor's Discretionary Fund
� Pastor's Salaries and Retired Pastor's Support
� Pastor's Bicycles
� New Church Roofs and Repair of Old Church Roofs
� Numerous Medical Paks for Dindi Clinic
� Scholarship Fund for School Fees for Children of Pastors and Church Servants
� Parsonage Repairs Throughout Murewa/UMP District
� Sewing Machines and materials for District United Methodist Women
� New Parsonage Building program for Berthisda UMC in Harare
� Church Expansion program for St. John -Mufakose UMC in Harare
� Orphan day care program for St. :Phillips UMC in Harare
� Building Project for Mabelreign UMC in Harare
� Many other gifts of food, clothing, medical supplies, sewing supplies, choir robes, hymnals etc.

Over $400K has been raised (exc. Personal travel) to support these initiatives.
